 Grand Ayatollah Sheikh Ali Safi Golpaygani Passes Away


According to Ahl ul Bayt News Agency (ABNA), Grand Ayatollah Shaykh Ali Safi Golpaygani, passed away last night in Golpaygan, Iran, at the age of 99. Ali Safi Golpaygani was the brother of the contemporary Shia cleric Grand Ayatollah Shaykh Lotfollah Safi Golpaygani and the religious legacy of recently deceased Grand Ayatollah Muhammad Taqi Behjat. He was a student of another well-known Shia cleric, Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Muhammad Husayn Boroujerdi.

The final resting place for this man of God will be Golpayegan in his hometown where he will be buried Insha'Allah on Tuesday morning.

The Islamic Humanitarian Service offer their condolences to the Imam of our time, Grand Ayatollah Shaykh Lotfollah Safi Gulpaygani and his family and the believers throughout the world at the loss of this great scholar.

Messages of condolences to Ayatollah Shaykh Lotfollah Safi Gulpaygani came in from many individuals and organizations including: Ayatullah Khamene'i, Ayatullah Seestani,  Hujjatul Islam Shaykh Ray Shahri, Theological Seminary of Qum, Jami' al-Modarissin of Qum, Hujjatul Islam Sayyid Hasan Khomeini, Hujjatul Islam Sayyid Hadavi Tehrani and a host of others.
