Alsalam Alaykum;

Programs for this week to be held at the IHS Centre (81 Hollinger Cres) are as follows:

1) We will be marking the Shahaadat of the Children of Hadhrat Muslim ibne Aqeel next Monday, November 4th which will be the first majlis to mark the beginning of the month of Muharram.  Majlis will be recited by our Shaykh who is coming in from Qum, Iran for Muharram. 

2) On Thursday, October 31st we will be commemorating the Eid-e-Mubahela and the shabe Jumu'ah program.  The Al-Husayni Madressa has requested that we hold a joint event with their 2nd "Halaloween program."  A separate email will be forwarded to outline the details of this event.

The program will begin at 7:45pm with the recitation of Surah Yaseen, Dua Kumayl, Short talk on Halloween by Shaykh Saleem Bhimji, followed by games and activities for any children of all ages. This event is open to ALL children in the community, not only those who attend the Al-Husayni Madressa.  Program will finish with treat bags for children and refreshments.

3) On Friday, November 1st, there will be Salatul Jumu'ah to begin at 1:08pm.

4) Please note that the time changes this Sunday, Nov. 3rd so please put your clocks BACK one hour.

5) On Sunday, November 3rd at 3:00pm we will be gathering at the IHS Centre to clean up the place, put up the black clothes, and prepare the centre for the Muharram majalis.  We need lots of Volunteers - both brothers and sisters, in the name of Imam Husayn, peace be upon him, to come and help out on this day.

6) Muharram majalis will begin on Monday, November 4th at 7:30pm every night. (more details will follow).  Our speaker for this year is : Shaykh Mohammad Mahdi Mohammadpour Shahkolai.  He was raised in America and is in his 5th year in the Hawza of Qum, Iran.
Anyone wishing to bring food, tabarruk or volunteer in these nights is requested to contact us.



Introduction to Islam

Dennis Wholley meets Imam Hassan Qazwini, leader of the Islamic Centre in Dearborn, Michigan, to discuss the fundamental beliefs of Islam, and remove any misconceptions the general public may have. Many  Non-muslims have the idea that the Islamic clerics and leaders are hostile and unapproachable, however Dennis Wholley shows that the Islamic leaders (Imams) are normal people like you and I, striving for a better future for upcoming generations.

Drop-In Centre

The Islamic Humanitarian Service drop-in centre is open from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday. We offer a fully-stocked Islamic book store, Library and area for offering daily prayers - including the only centre in the KW Region which offers Salaatul Jumu'ah [Friday prayer service]. To book visits or if you require a speaker for your public school or event, please contact us.
