Nightly Muharram Programs 2016 PDF Print E-mail
Salaamun Alaykum,
The programs for the month of Muharram for this year will be held at the 81 Hollinger Crescent, Kitchener, ON, N2K 2Y8 (IHS Centre) every night beginning on Sunday, October 2nd at 8:00 PM. We will start with Quran, Marthiya, Majlis, Matam and Ziyarat-e-Ashura.Our speaker for this year is Br. Akil Karim and his topic for this year is based on Surah Hujarat 49:12 - The Concept of Brotherhood in Islam.
Similar to last year,  we are beginning the programs this year at 8pm for 2 reasons.  First of all, Salat time is later this year,  unlike in previous years; and secondly, the IHS Centre is also being rented by the Arab community as well as our Jamaat, and thus we had to co-ordinate with them, for them to finish their programs and only then can we begin our programs.

Anyone wishing to recite Quran, Marthiya (in ANY LANGUAGE) , Nawha (in ANY LANGUAGE) or Ziyarat Ashura nightly are requested to contact Sy. Taha Taqvi or Br. Zulfikar (Zul) Khimji, or fill in your name on the sign up sheets.Anyone wishing to sponsor tabarruk or food for any of the nights of Muharram is requested to contact Sr. Toba Anwar. There will be children's classes during the main program for children aged 4 to 8 yrs - in the library and classes will be conducted by Sr. Shayda for the first 4 nights and then by Sr. Nelofar and Sr. Manija for the remainder of the nights.Children aged 9 years and up will be requested to stay in the main hall for the program.  On both sides, the EC has appointed certain volunteers to maintain silence and also to ensure that the kids are in the main hall, and other order is kept during the majalis- please respect them and listen to their recommendations.DONATIONS for Muharram/Safar and for general running of YOUR community are open and we humbly request everyone to generously donate towards this cause. We will have envelopes with donation forms available for people to fill out with their name, address and other information and donations can be put into these envelopes and given in the form of a cheque or cash. Once completed, please give these envelopes with your generous donations to one of the Executive Members or designated volunteers as mentioned.  For ladies' side- to Sr. Toba Anwar or Sr. Arifa Hudda, and in the mens' side to Br. Amid Gohari, Br. Sarfraz Jamal or Br. Sultan Hudda.
Our donation target for this year is $15000- please note that this is for us to cover the cost of the weekly programs for the entire year, and the expenses include: Muharram speaker, hadiyas for speakers throughout the year, rental of the IHS building, supplies, etc....

MEMBERSHIP forms can also be picked up on either side - please fill in and submit with payment to one of the EC members listed above. FOR PARKING, we request you to follow our volunteers' instructions and ensure that you leave the LAST TWO PARKING SPOTS at the end of the parking lot (near to the garbage cans) EMPTY - both on the IHS parking lot and the neighbors - this will allow people to drop off family and the make their way out of the lots.ANY STUDENTS NEEDING RIDES to the centre for Muharram are requested to get in contact with us and we will try and arrange accordingly.
Anyone from the community who is able to PROVIDE rides to other people please let us know.WATCH MAJLIS LIVE NIGHTLY by clicking on THIS LINK.

Introduction to Islam

Dennis Wholley meets Imam Hassan Qazwini, leader of the Islamic Centre in Dearborn, Michigan, to discuss the fundamental beliefs of Islam, and remove any misconceptions the general public may have. Many  Non-muslims have the idea that the Islamic clerics and leaders are hostile and unapproachable, however Dennis Wholley shows that the Islamic leaders (Imams) are normal people like you and I, striving for a better future for upcoming generations.
