About Islam
What is Islam?
Islam is not a new religion, rather it is the continuation of the same Truth that God revealed to all of His prophets starting from Adam and culminating with Muhammad (peace be upon all of them), to the entire mankind.

For over one-fifth of the world’s population, Islam is not merely a religion or a set of devotional practices, instead it is a complete way of life that governs their day to day affairs – everything from social interaction to daily economic transactions.

Inquiries about Shi'i Islam PDF Print E-mail
The Shi‘a and Sunni schools of thought form the two wings of the Islamic nation that allow it to fly and carry out its lofty objectives. A great Muslim scholar once said, “Those who attempt to cause division between the Shi‘a and Sunni are neither Shi‘a nor Sunni.” Written under this premise, the book in hand should clarify some common questions and inquiries about the philosophy and practice of Shi‘a Islam. The Shi‘a and Sunni schools of thought differ primarily in jurisprudence and have far more similarities than differences. Every school of thought in Islam must be respected because they all can lead people to salvation.

Due to the lack of clear information, the Shi‘a Imamiyyah school of thought has remained a mystery to many Muslims. Numerous Muslims are relieved to discover the truth about Shi‘a Islam from reliable sources. Nevertheless, the enemies of Islam have found that the best way to slander Islam and disturb the peace within the Muslim nation is to encourage division and sectarianism. Thus, a myriad of negative and false rumors with no basis in the authentic books of the Shi‘a school of thought have been spread. These rumors have two sources: animosity towards Islam on the part of those who invent them, and ignorance on the part of those who believe and propagate them.

Discovering Islam PDF Print E-mail
Discovering Islam is an invitation to learn about the fundamental message, spirit, and practice of Islam.  This book covers an array of essential concepts, practices, and beliefs. It takes you through the core principle of the Oneness of God to the most contemporary concept of jihad.

The message of Islam is universal. Islam is not intended to be a faith of followers from a certain descent; nor does it belong to one geographical part of the world; nor does it belong to a different time era.

Islam is a progressive and adapting religion that transcends all racial, native tongue, socio-economic, and gender lines. It is open and free to be explored, challenged, accepted, and even rejected.  God says in the Quran, “There is no compulsion in religion. The right direction is henceforth distinct from error. Thus whoever rejects evil and believes in God has grasped the most trustworthy hand-hold that never breaks.” (2:256)

What does Islam mean?
The ‘Arabic word Islam simply means ‘complete submission (to God)’, and is derived from the ‘Arabic word meaning peace.

In Islamic culture, the word peace plays a central role.  Not only is one of the 99 names of God, as-Salam meaing Peace, moreover Muslims greet one another using this same word by saying As-Salam ‘Alaikum or Peace be upon you and the five daily prayers end with the same sentence.

Most other religions or beliefs are named after their founder or Prophet however the religion of Islam is not named after its ‘founder’ since Muhammad, the final Prophet of God was no more than the teacher and propagator of God’s message.

Thus, the term ‘Muhammedanism’ is a misnomer and an insult to Muslims since it suggests that Muslims worship Muhammad rather than God.

The word ‘Allah’ is the Arabic and proper name for God, which is used by Arab Muslims and Christians alike.
